Guest guest
You cannot reduce toxicity in the body by adding toxins to the body. ALL supplements are toxic to at least some degree, most to a surprising degree. We need no supplements of any kind. Rather, we need to relearn how to eat and live healthfully. This morning he mentioned an over the counter supplement. You can find out something about it at this link: http://www.irritable-bowel-syndrome.ws/digestive-advantage.htm This is an info site, not the mfgrs. site. I did an internet search and found that IBS has been discussed and disputed widely (possibly indicating that no one has found the root cause yet, or that there are many variables). You may find something helpful there. http://www.everydayhealth.com/PublicSite/searchEHResults.aspx?q=ibs Hope this helps, Nick Hein Morgantown, WV
Guest guest
Elchanan, I agree, and I was only hoping to offer a suggestion that might work. If you know enough about this product to accurately dismiss it then please give the details. Especially if you know of something that does work and can suggest it to the person who asked. Please don't infer any testiness from my reply. I really meant what I said in the close of my earlier message. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Nick, No problem, email can be such a one-dimensional way to communicate, it's just all too easy to miss each other's nuances and subtleties, to overlook a phrase, and so forth. Big smile!!! Just a few comments: 1. All herbs are toxic to humans to at least some degree. The older herbal texts freely discuss this. I honestly have no idea what newer texts may say. 2. Most herbs are sold in a dehydrated form. Therefore: a. They are refined and concentrated version of the original, not Nature's design at all. b. They dehydrate the body, at least to some degree. Of course, if one were actually to pick the leaves fresh, then #1 would remain true, but #2 would vanish. If the primary problems are irritation and dehydration, then the rather obvious and straightforward solutions would be to stop all irritants and improve hydration. The easiest way to stop all irritants is simply to stop all eating for a brief period, to let the system empty itself and just plain calm down. There is inflammation on the inside, and we all know that a skin (membrane) irritation can take a couple of days to cool off ... literally. So we need simply give ourselves those days, then resume eating in a more healthful way. And all along the way, water is our friend. NOT water with additives (lemon juice, etc.), just water, either as it occurs in fruits and tender greens, or in a glass. The real problem, I think, is one of perception: we have all been trained to believe that we need to " take stuff " , that for any symptom, the explanation and therefore the solution must be somehow mysterious and/or complex, requiring some special knowledge and/or training to interpret, and so forth. But this is not Nature's way. Another problem is misplaced trust: most people SO want to believe in " the establishment " , that somehow these drug companies and/or government really do work toward solutions. This may once have been so, but no longer, for the most part. You write: I did an internet search and found that IBS has been discussed and disputed widely (possibly indicating that no one has found the root cause yet, or that there are many variables). See, here is a perfect example ... you have indeed assumed that someone actually WANTS to find and publish information about the cause. But the cause of all irritability is irritation ... this is well-known and has been for eons. And they have you, and millions of other who search in good faith, tilting at windmills, confusing yourselves completely, and eventually turning to their " experts " . That's " the system " these days! In reality, eating can and should be one of life's simplest activities. For me, it certainly has become so!!! We live far more enjoyably when we become able to treat eating as a routine input, and give our focus and attention to more meaningful and productive pursuits. At least, that's my opinion!
