>Hi Dee (are you Ecocities Dee by the way?)

Nope, I'm just 'deer' old Dee, I'm afraid![well, I'm not that old]

" .

>...The issue is summarised in 'A Guide To The Techniques Of Coppice

>Management'

Sounds like an interesting read. I shall look out for it. it's always

interesting to hear other points of view.

>...What PETA are saying here seems to me to be more about propoganda.

I suppose everyone chooses what they want to beleive.

....Sometimes this might mean taking steps to control the activities of other

>species that are damaging our means of sustainable survival... if

>populations are reaching unsustainable levels and constant damage is

>occuring then culling may unfortunately be necessary.

Like I said,I won't pretend I know everything about this subject. I don't.

But if what you say is true, then in a round about way what I mentioned

before still stands in this case. I would only find the killing of any

species [that includes humans]acceptable if it was for survival purposes. I

should've added that perhaps the only other exception would be extreme

suffering. I think I'd want to be put down when I'm 101, if I'm talking

drivel, weeing my pants and dribbling down my chin!!

It seems you have read/heard a lot of things that have changed your mind

about certain issues. I guess that's easier to do if you hear it from

someone who is in a lot of ways like-minded.

....I wouldn't want to do this myself, nor could I bring myself to carry out

>such culling, but find it very difficult to critisise those who do lead

>such a way

>of life, and who are obviously taking responsibility for their actions and

>what

>they eat,

Nor would I, but if this really is the only way, then should we expect

others to do the dirty work for us?[though, i know there are the percentage

who would gladly do it for us.]but that wouldn't be right. And yes, I know

what you're saying about the woodlanders who take the responsibility to

obtain their own food. I know a guy who shot a suffering sheep and ate it. I

guess I have less of a problem with that, than people who haven't thought

about how their minced cow in a packet or whatever ended up on the

supermarket shelf. My motto is that I wouldn't eat what I couldn't kill. I

have no problem with killing a carrot, so I don't feel guilty if I buy one

from a supermarket. I have grown a few things in the past[but i'm too damn

lazy to keep it up] and anyway if i grew everything i ate it would be rather

boring. I'd miss out on all those foreign goodies like mangoes and bananas

[yummy][i also try as much as possible to buy fair trade and organic.]

Btw- Had a look at some of your pictures. Very good! Nice style.

Dee
