Guest guest
I once went to a talk on vegan nutrition, and the guy answered a similar question about sesame seeds. Apparently they need to be crushed or else toasted if you're going to eat them whole (although I wonder now about sprouting?). This way they're a good source of calcium, otherwise they inhibit the absorption of something or other. I just think without any additional help they're too hard to digest. (The ancient Greeks used to eat a lot of sesame seeds and you'll find lots of, er, scatological jokes about them in their comedies so I guess they had problems digesting them too!) Jane Soche id <socheid Seeds Someone told me at the weekend they had been advised that there is no nutritional value in eating sesame seeds unless they are crushed before hand. Is this true? Does anything like this apply to any other seeds or nuts? I have sesame seeds, liniseeds and pumpkin seeds in my breakfast every morning. I used to also have sunflowers seeds but I read somewhere sunflower seeds are best avoided since they inhibit the absorbtion of some essential fatty acid or something (is this true?) Regards, Stevie.
