Guest guest
These are just like spring rolls but wrapped in soya bean sheets instead of the usual pastry. Wing Yip (name of said supermarket) also do veg goose (layers of soya bean sheets, kind of like duck skin, if you can handle the thought), veg ham, veg sausage (with yam filling) and more. Have to try not to think about food miles when eating them though (and not sure about GM Soya? Although I think this is less of a problem in East Asia??). New World restaurant in Chinatown (London) serves most of the above. (Just don't go expecting any pleasantries) Also, have any other Londoners been to Red Veg on Dean Street in Soho. It's a fast-food veggieburger place (like V2 in Nottingham) that claims it can do everything vegan (ok, everything on its rather limited menu) - including " NoName Nuggets " ! The burger was good, but the worst thing was the flyer - " No lentils and no meat " . I've half a mind to start a Lentil Appreciation Society in protest! Anyway, that's enough unhealthy eating for one day... Jane >Mon, 19 Nov 01 02:40:03 +0000 > <jallan vegan shrimps ... just been up to the big chinese/oriental mall in Colindale, North London and found of all things *vegan shrimps * yikes! it looks like deep fried tofu related stuff. will give you the verdict in a few days. how weird can you get?
