Guest guest
I recently filled out a complaints form at my local Tesco as they have a big promotion on IAMS. I even detailed on the postcard some of the horrific experiments which IAMS performed. My complaint was ignored. Several weeks later I complained that my complaint had been ignored, left a synopsis of my complaint along with my phone number. Twenty minutes later I received a call passing on the manager's message that Tesco's policy is to promote IAMS. I told the lad to pass a message back to his manager, that Tesco are supposed to have a anti-animal testing policy and therefore they should not be promoting such a sick company. About a month later I received a letter from head office saying that they take customers' views into account when deciding upon promotions. I say, let's go for it and start a campaign. > " Jayne Blissett " <jayneblissett >vegan-network ><vegan-network > >[100% veg*n ] Tesco doesn't care! >Sat, 24 Nov 2001 20:59:31 -0000 > >Like most big food stores TESCO will only change if there is bad publicity >at risk or they will make money. > >I know for certain that when I personally met the head veggie buyer from >TESCO I failed in my big attempt to move them from focusing purely on meat >reducers - despite lending them tons of material for them to feed on! do >you know that even their veggie food is battery eggs and their excuse... >not enough free range eggs in the world to supply their needs.. Guest guest
Could you outline some of the issues behind iams........? I am assuming you mean the cat food brand. This us-uk thing is kind of throwing me off. Also, I've been planning on switching my cats to a vegan cat food, or atleast one that's not 99% flesh, any suggestions of a good us brand? Guest guest
Iams are part of the Proctor & Gamble group. For the full story about Iams, see http://www.uncaged.co.uk/iams.htm. Briefly, an example of their work: 1. Kidney failure and death inflicted on dogs The first study referred to in the Express article tells how: " ...24 young dogs had their right kidneys removed and the left partly damaged to investigate how protein affects dogs with kidney failure. Eight dogs were killed to analyse the kidney tissue. Dogs which became sick were not treated because it would have undermined the test results.
