Guest guest
Does anyone ever go ice skating or ten pin bowling? I was wondering about the skates and bowling shoes that you hire at ice rinks/bowling alleys. I expect they are all leather. Unless someone does this sort of thing a lot then there is no point in investing in a pair of non-leather alternatives if there is such a thing. So if you are invited along with a group of non-vegans, [and you don't know any other vegans you can socialise with instead] what's worse-sitting bored while spectating everyone having fun or having to wear leather shoes? I suppose the alternative would be not to go and be anti-social. Out of interest what would you do? The ice skating rink I used to work at had mostly leather boots, but there were plastic ones available too. No one ever wanted to use them, so they were in better shape than the leather ones. I think maybe hockey style skates aren't leather. I'm not sure. I know the outside is covered with hard plastic and the inside is cloth. Most figure skates (the kind with the serrated toe pick in front) are fully leather. Most rinks I've been in have had both leather and nonleather boots. - Cheryl ..................................... http://www.pickleflick.com/bean http://www.livejournal.com/~ratties AIM: triceratops bean " I'm melting!
