Guest guest
dear all, one of my best friends (who incidentally has admitted to seeing the case for veganism and wanting to be a vegan if only she were possessed of enough self discipline, though what she means as 'seeing' the case for i am unclear of.... as i personally and perhaps also inaccurately/simplistically believe that to see the logic of veganism is 'self discipline' enough.... or at least ALMOST.... or, uh, something.) wrote the below and i forward it here as i feel currently too inarticulate, and more generally too ill equipped information wise, to respond...... so... any suggestions? i tentatively offer the idea of 'spiritual' or 'moral' 'evolution' in 'support' of veganism and as opposed to physical.... but wondered whether anyone has any more coherent, intelligent and developed arguments/responses etc etc bani ps- the relevant part of her email follows: I was watching Walking with Beasts the other day, which is absolutely brilliant by the way, ..and they were saying how our evolution from " apes " (can't remember the correct term) into humans was achieved because of the increase in brain size and brain power - a feat that occurred because of....the consumption of MEAT. Basically, human brains grew in size and power because of the ingestion of specific nutrients in meat. This enabled pre-humans to be far more aggressive hunter-gathers. Isn't that interesting. Tell me bani, how do you regard your veganism in the context of your evolutionary history ?? What philosophical and practical relevance do you accord it? Do you think it might facilitate or hinder you future evolution ??
