Guest guest
>early man ate a lot of non meat products, but, when scientists did up the >remians, wot do they find, bones, stone tools..how well is a wicker >collecting basket going to survive? the interesting issue to look regarding meat consumption in ancient times is the energy reseources it would have taken, i.e. how much energy does it take to runaround hunting and trapping versus energy that the games returns to the individuals. hunting is hugely energy inefficient, i.e a whole bunch of guys sitting around tryng to work out how, then running around chasing things and then beating them up and transporting them back to base for the calorific return of a single beef burger. that energy must have come from somewhere else, i.e. women and children picking vegetables, fruits and grasses in a hugely energy efficient way. what we need is a energy conservationist revision of pre-history. studyies of traditional tribes alive to day underline this. the eating of meat was a costly expensive luxury sustained by the mainly vegatable based diet. john hey folk, keep editing off those miles of old replies from the bottom of your emails please!
