Guest guest
For me, veganism is more than just diet - its a code of ethics, and although not " vegan issues " I inlcude the Earth and human rights in my code of ethics, which is why I would never support a company like McD's even if they opened up a McVegan outlet that only sold vegan products. I prefer to support shops that I consider to be ethical first - I use the supermarkets as a last resort, and there are some companies that I will never support, McD's being one of them. Your £1 that you spend on your vegan burger from macdonalds is just a drop in their vast profits - I don't think its gonna make them think about changing thier ways. And every pound spent there is another pound that could have been spent positively at a more ethical place. McD's only have a vegan burger because they want your money - they don't give a toss about your ethics (having worked for some large companies I can tell you that your reverse psychology idea just won't work) - they just see you as another market to derive profit from. Whereas the health food shop/cafe (well some of them anyway - like the independents) are in it for your health and the environment etc. Maybe this is why the vegan-owned 13th Note in Glasgow is now threatened with closure - all the vegans went to McDonalds, and soon there won't be a choice - its McD's or nothing, and they'll probably still recall their vegan burgers anyway. Its definitely a reason that Cranks sited in their closure statement (something abiout veggie food being widely available and their market share falling - although they were owned by a chicken chain so I'm not really bothered about them). flame on -- Rob vegan-network, " Jayne Blissett " <jayneblissett@z...> wrote: > > I personally feel that maybe we should do a bit a reverse physcology and > praise these big companies for what they are doing - publically that way > it's positive advertising and MAYBE they will want more of that? > > Thoughts?
