That makes sense. I mean, refusing to use your old leather isn't going

to help the animals. (As my mother would say ...).

Nup.

IMHO, there are rights and wrongs ... and a purity crusade would

definitely be wrong :).

That's EXACTLY what I'm doing. I don't think that it would benefit any

animals if I threw away the jacket I've had for 7 years and bought a new

one, or if I all of a sudden threw away all my old make-up. I'll just be

making more animal-friendly choices in the future.

I am phasing out all my non-

vegan stuff. I'm not throwing stuff away just to create new waste and

buy new stuff (can't afford it anyway!)

Seems like this is our confession session or somethin'...well, in that case,

I might as well say that I still have quite a few pairs of leather slippers

sitting in my shoe cabinet, and a few leather handbags in my wardrobe. I

don't use them anymore and I won't get rid of them until I find the right

people to give them to (my shoe size is 5 and my handbags are TINY, too, so

not a lot of people appreciate them). I've just taken out my down quilt and

replaced it with a cotton/polyester one, now trying to find some place I can

donate it to...

Of course, it would hard to be 100% vegan, we're just all doing the best we

can, trying to get as close as we can to live without exploiting non-human

animals.

When I accidentally buy something is not vegan, I never use it...I always

give it to someone in my family - but if you really think about it, wouldn't

I be promoting non-vegan goods? Or, wouldn't I just another hypocrite who

pushes the blame of using animal products onto non-vegans? It's hard to get

away clean...

I want more people to become vegan, but a lot of them feel that vegans are

just plain deviant (well, considering what the norm is, we are). And it's

difficult to get them to connect with us when we are indeed on different

ends of the spectrum - should we compromise to bring them in? But how can

we promote something that we cannot uphold ourselves?

My family hates it when I talk about being animal and earth-friendly, my

sister says I make veganism sound like a religion. Of course, I don't make

it sound that way, but she chooses to see it that way so that her not

becoming vegan is merely " normal " because I am obviously " crazy. "

You don't see how tough the road is gonna be (in promoting a lifestyle

free/near free of animal exploitation) until you see how confused the SPCA

people look when you tell them you're vegan. HUGE question mark on their

faces. And then you say, " Remember, your slogan to care for animals?

Hello??? So, first of all, dogs and cats aren't the only animals around.

If you want to care for all animals, wouldn't it be a good idea not to eat

them in the first place? " And they go, " Oh, yeah, I see what you're saying.

By the way you coming to our charity party? Here's the menu, last year we

had this delicious chicken, they're serving it again this year! Remember to

tell your friends! " Somebody...help us!

Sorry, I kinda digressed! But I just had to release that...people here

would think I'm preaching a new religion if I said that to them...

*sighs* Lonely vegan in HK,

Honor
