I had to laugh when I got an image of yobbish mice in doc martens, as an animator I can see that would make a wonderful animation! ha ha! But I have to agree with you on some of the points you made. I remember discussing what to do about mice a while back. I tried several 'humane' methods/deterants, but the meeces proved they were far too smart for that. I've heard they can get too smart for the 'not-so-humane' traps too. I couldn't have used one of those anyway. I was at the end of my tether so, in the end I invited 'Louis, the studio cat' round for...I hate to say it...dinner. In all fairness I left the back door open just so the mice would have a good chance to escape back to the field from where they came from, should they not want to stay for dinner. Unfortunately they are not THAT clever! So Louis had a feast and I at last had a poo free dinner that night! It must have filled him up because he even left some remains for me! I had to decline and explain that I was vegan. I'm not sure he understood but then many people don't either! I didn't feel guilty about the mice, because someone had forgotten to buy Louis his food, so he had no option but to catch his own like cats are supposed to anyway. This probably sounds like really obvious advice, but it does help reduce the problem. I found that once you do get rid of them, the best way to keep them away is not to leave anything lying around that might attract them, ie-keep all of your food in secure cabinets/containers/fridges, [esp. peanut butter, that's their favourite!] mop up any spillages or crumbs, don't leave out any dirty dishes and avoiding leaving bins in places where they can jump in [also, if the bin has scratches on it they can easily climb up it] It's amazing what they consider to be food, though. When I used to smoke, they ate my tobacco, and they were quite fond of loo roll as well! For some reason, after Louis' visit, I could still hear some mice running around inside the walls of the house, but they seemed to stay in there and not venture into the house, which seemed to suit me and them fine. I think we came to some sort of compromise in the end! [although I could still hear them fighting each other and disturbing the peace at night! But then what else can we expect from yobs!lol] Dee _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp.
