Guest guest
Yeah, I know people who only eat what is known as 'skipped meat'. at a (pretty fantastic) party I went to someone brought toffees and dairy milk chocolate to what was an all-vegan gethering and he says 'they aren't vegan but they're fregan!!' Which I get the principal of and indeed, in theory I agree with but the thought of eating the sweets made me feel really quite ill, being at this stage in my veganism. Great idea, shame it makes me want to throw. Charlie xxx ps-the sperm subject-all my girly friends find it really interesting too..not a conversation piece I'd advise for a first date/meeting though!! This arguement doesn't really hold. Yes, supply in the meat industry is affected largely by demand for meat, but under capitalism it is " effective " demand that matters. If I have no money in my pocket, no meat producer is going to care about what I want/demand. My demand has no " effect " . No supermarket is ever going to do a stocktake of a skip, because they have no interest in finding out what people would consume for free. Take Pret A Manger, the sandwich chain, who apparently give their leftovers to homeless people. If all these people turned out to be vegan, do you really think Pret would make any fewer 'all day breakfast' sarnies and make more houmous ones instead? No, they base their decisions on what the paying sandwich eater wants. (Of course any pure as the driven snow homeless vegan wouldn't touch Pret because of McD's involvement, would they? Of course they would. To be so principled is a privilege most people can't afford.) >i have some friends who call themselves fregans and they use it >as an excuse to eat wahtever they want and give in to their cravings >for flesh and still try to pretend theyre doing soemthing good. my opinion >of this fregan crap isnt very high. >spiggy Well, I guess if they're going to " give in " to their flesh cravings, better this way than a host of others.
