Guest guest
>Thanx for the support Dee, I've given up today Good for you!! >Problem is, there's a tobacco selling newsagent only 30 seconds walk >away from me! Can't you walk a different way? If not, just think how good you'll feel when you bypass that shop in 10 seconds, instead of 30 because you don't smoke anymore! > > When i smoked I would often say things that I wished i wouldn't, >but not regret it cos all I really cared about was another cigarette >(euck!) like I'd express true feelings about meat eating and the >meat industry and make meat eaters feel guilty etc (I know there is >a debate going on whether this is right or wrong) There is nothing wrong about expressing your true feelings. But I guess it helps to choose how you are going to pick your words first! I reckon it depends on the circumstances. If someone questions me about veganism then I'll answer. You can always tell if the person is going to be understanding and are genuinly interested in the subject or they just want a stupid argument. In the latter case I usually emphasise the health benefits of a vegan diet rather than try to tell them about animal rights. I didn't have this advantage when I smoked though. In fact sometimes non-smoking meat eaters would have something to say about me being vegan and smoking. If I wanted them to be considerate then so should I. Well, it feels good knowing that they can't attack me for that anymore [i can be really smug now, heh heh] and I if I want to leave people with the impression that I am a healthy vegan then that is another good reason for giving up. Who's going to follow in my footsteps if I sit there coughing and spluttering over my houmous and tomato sandwich? I want to set a good example. >The good thing I think being compassionate to all >things is pretty important, but there are so many people who really >don't give a **** about anyone or anything else that ruining their >day isn't such a bad thing. But maybe I won't think that when I've >properly given up. >Jules It's very frustrating when people act like they don't give a ****. If what you have said to them ruins their day, then although it's not in a positive way, at least you must be getting through to them. The fact that they feel bad must mean that they have feelings after all! Dee P.s. If you want, you can e-mail me personally if you want to have a good old grumble or some support in helping you to give up smoking. I'd be happy to help in any way I can. _______________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
