" only the carpet bombing of over innocent 4,000 Afganistani civilians, mainly family facing famine, as part of a fight against the terrorist that had been oppressing them for 15 years " . oh, hold on a moment. form a minute I thought that I was George Bush there .... OK, well let's just leave the 14,000 unexploded bombs on the ground for kids to play with and livestock to find over the next 15 years. come one Teri, did I say I was? acerbic wit I think they call it. Dr Ian is right, I am an aspiring, if not inspiring, shock jock moderator. actually, that is pretty pejorative too as usual. I think that sometime really serious subject matters can be broached with a dark sense of humour. sometimes it is the only way to remain sane and the only way to prick the conscience of the oppressor. unfortunately not everyone gets it. its has always been a problem right down through history. I don¹t know about bombing it seems like a lot of effort for little reward .... but may be a dead sheep and buckets of [ theatrical ] blood down the aisles would do. I think the trick is learn from the successful actions of the past and make any protest as colour full [ red, lots of it ] and theatrical as possible. sure being nice and a wonderful example of an enlightened human being is best but what about is extreme situations? what if someone had deliberately murdered Hitler before he went off to cause his atrocities. a few did try. of course, murder is wrong but would it have been righter to allow what happened to happen? the murderer would have been hailed a hero by history. so now we are in a totally critical situation where a small materialist regime running an irresponsible oil based capitalism is destroying the planet and threatening all the animals. and believe me, with oil there would not be the meat industry there is. it would be impossible. what those individuals that go out to cause financial damage to that money machine are doing is throwing their own lives in the spokes of its wheels in an effort to stop it. I should think every species on the brink of extinction, every mammalian industrial by-product, every family of animals hunted for phun and profit would bless their martyred souls. so what is the way of the establishment that Ian mentioned? murder, incarcerate or persecute the enlightened ones, the healers, the social activists - and then make them martyred saints several hundred years later when they are safely forgotten? I think phoning someone up, or door stepping them to tell them how unacceptable one considers their damaging behaviour is not only quite lawful but highly admirable. it takes balls just as hunt sabbing and putting yourself in front a line of riot police to stop the export of live veal calves as the woman that was killed by the van driving straight at her. and these direct actions are getting results. imagine, not just people risking their lives to save mammals but even trees and vegetation! history is turning and it will look back at those people from a distance and remember them wonderful martyrs that brought about turning points. it is only after the turning point has been achieve that people that have the same line as Ian have their place. the lawyers and the bureaucrats. wars are won by the sacrifices of the foot soldiers on the front line and I give them my respect. has anyone else noticed the growing trend of wholefood shops selling organic meat products? I went into Fresh and Wild and discovered whole chickens, slabs of meat and cumberland sausages. sad. more on the the Tao of the Establishment later but I would really appreciate hearing from Ian how to successfully use it to our benefit. john
