Come to Leicester or Nottingham. Nottingham seems really cool for vegans -

there's the V1 vegetarian fast food place that is mostly vegan, and theres a

vegan bakery called Screaming Carrots, and the Rainbow Centre.

To my shame I haven't actually been to Nottingham yet, but I keep meaning to

cos it looks really cool from all the websites I've seen.

Leicester is pretty good - there are a lot of vegetarian Indian restaraunts,

and a couple of veggie cafes that aren't too bad, plus there are loads of

museums and ather places of interest (and the Space Centre) and a fairly

good public transport system - the station is five minutes walk from the

town centre.

Let me know if you're interested and I can look into accomodation - I may

even be able to put you up if my housemate has moved out by then and your

kids are old enough for you not to be worrying about them falling down my

three flights of stairs.

if i were you id take them to dorset. in bournemouth,

everything is in walking distance of the bus/train

station. it took me about 20 minutes to walk to the

beach from the bus station. there is LOADS of

accomodation there, with family rooms and all that

stuff. its really beatiful and the whole city is built

around gardens. theres loads to do on the coast, boat

rides, ferries to the isle of wight, plus if you go in

august it might still be warm enough to play in the

ocean. i went in november and it was still fairly

warm. and corfe castle is just a train ride away. well

train then bus, really. its huge, i got completely

lost in there. they have balloon rides over dorset,

which looked really fun but they werent doing them in

the winter so i didnt get to go. as far as food goes,

they have papa johns!! i didnt think they had those in

the UK (its an american pizza chain), and their dough

is vegan. theres also a lovely mexican restaurant on

the square. its a really authentic mexican-looking

place, and the foods pretty good too. theres also a

vegan restuarant as well, but somehow i never found

it. i hope that helps. you can probably find more

information on the vegan society website.
