Guest guest
This is an interesting read! On the one hand I am very much pro-recycling: I have old leather shoes I am desperately keeping going, since when I walk down the street, I don't really feel that they are an obvious advert for leather. Same with belts etc. However, I guess a leather jacket is a little more obvious. When you, or someone who has received that jacket via charity/whatever walks down the street, it does smack of " I like the look/feel of leather sooo much, it's all over my upper torso! " But then again, I like others on here, know a few veggies/vegans who still wear old leather. For me, veganism is about the wider aspects of consumerism. Throwing stuff out is pointless, and to be honest, I am not really that sure that recycling leather and keeping it in society until it falls apart is that detrimental - I am far more worried about L'Oreal billboards and supermarkets controlling the minds of the weak-willed masses.
