Guest guest
Cream of tartar is made out of grape skin extract, I seem to recall - it's certainly vegan. For muffins you can also use self-raising flour with no other raising agent(though I don't know if you can get wholemeal self-raising), or just ordinary baking powder. I would recommend that you use a bit of white flour as well as wholemeal - say half and half, cos otherwise I think they might be a bit heavy - the chocolate version certainly works with up to 2/3 wholemeal, but I've never tried the variations with anything other than white, which I think gives a better texture. > " andy.mich " <andy.mich >vegan-network ><vegan-network > >Re: [100% veg*n ] Help with muffins. >Sat, 22 Jun 2002 10:24:40 -0700 > >Thanks Emily, just need to get some cream of tartar, what is that made >from? >I've seen it in recipes but assumed it was not veggie. Guest guest
Cream of Tartar is a natural, pure ingredient left behind after grape juice has fermented to wine. - andy.mich vegan-network Saturday, June 22, 2002 1:24 PM Re: [100% veg*n ] Help with muffins. Thanks Emily, just need to get some cream of tartar, what is that made from? I've seen it in recipes but assumed it was not veggie. Thanks very much for the recipe it sounds right up my street.
