Moon *Question empiricism. http://members.cox.net/tiffany.moon/resume.htm Urge Prosecutor to Take Animal Cruelty Seriously -- In McDonald County, Missouri, four men have been charged with felony animal cruelty after police received reports that they had tried to beat to death and drown a 3-week-old calf in a nearby river. The calf's caretaker found her lying in a puddle of water by the riverbank with injuries so bad that she had to be euthanized. The calf's mother was so traumatized by the incident that according to her caretaker, " ... she must have been there through the entire incident. She just went crazy. She just doesn't like any human being anymore. " This clear-cut cruelty was caught on videotape by a witness to the event, yet McDonald County prosecutor Steve Geeding appears to be poised to strike a deal with the suspects because they have reportedly apologized and paid financial restitution to the owner. Pursuit of felony animal cruelty convictions in this case is crucial, both because of the terrible cruelty involved and because it could very well be the first case involving a " farm animal " to be successfully prosecuted under Missouri's animal cruelty law. Please write polite letters and make polite phone calls to prosecuting attorney Steve Geeding, urging him to continue to pursue felony convictions in this horrible case of animal cruelty. Politely remind him that the real victim in this case is the baby calf, not the calf's " owner. " The Honorable Steve Geeding Prosecuting Attorney McDonald County P.O.
