Guest guest
Horlicks * is* one of those milk malty drinks and so if off topic for this list but it is as British as Marmite soldiers. Soldiers being little fingers of toast for dipping into your war time egg yokes ... actually, I reckon weak Marmite tea is a damn site better way to imbibe the stuff than on any sort of toast, the results of which is positively *ganting* [ to recap on the dialect of my youth. But nevermind the bollocks, " Nevermind the Horlicks " does seem to be On Topic right now. Auntie Beeb is going to running a series on the effects of punk call such and there was a really poignant quote from one first generation punk. Guest guest
Great. Now you now how I feel. It gets worse. When the next bunch start worrying about being old you know you've really had it. You'll start saying the police look like kids soon. > > " we are about as relevant today as listening to Bill Haley was in 1976 " . I did the maths on it and the thought was frightening. Good God it is true, another 25 years have gone by. If I ever get stuffed in an old peoples home I expect them to be force feed me " we all live in a yellow submarine " . I think I'll top myself instead. I've seen a veggie/vegan rest home advertise itself in the vegan mag. Now that sounds great - they'll force feed dylan and curved air instead - that I could take. It conjures up wonderful visions of rocking geriatrics, alternative healthcare, coping with aches and pains by doping the days away, coach trips to protest marches and Glastonbury, visits from a yoga teacher instead of visits from the vicar, eco passing out ceremonies. Think I'll book my place now. Serious side though. Community living for vegan oldies really makes sense. Pooling money, resources, skills and labour.Employing younger vegans for a year or two and passing on knowledge. Think how brilliant a shared garden could be. Is there anything like that? And no I'm not THAT old - yet. Just hitting my middle aged crisis and wondering what to do next.
