Guest guest
Maybe some people aren't willing to completely disassociate themselves from those that have brought them up...helped them out..made them what they are today. To say you have little common ground is nonsensical...you are made of/by your family as well as your environment. I am with who I choose...my partner (who isn't vegan..though she is trying, if I had left her it would be another possible vegan gone by the wayside because of an extremist view), but I don't deny the existence of or refuse to associate myself with my family just because they continue to eat meat. Do some of you only talk,socialise...smile at vegans...what happens if you are having a pleasant chat with someone, maybe a stranger, and then you find out they aren't vegan...do you spit on them..get up and walk away. Have you been vegans all your life or did you once eat meat.....? How did you find out about veganism...it sure as hell wasn't from scary fundamentalist refusing to tell you about it... And if vegans only interacted with other vegans how would you work on changing the way the world works...by hiding in a broom cupboard and refusing to share your thoughts with others who haven't 'seen the light' Sorry but I find your " lets try thinking out of the box a bit here " attitude patronising and the hatred some people feel for others is disgusting and little better than race hatred. gggrrrrr...rant over!! gareth > > irene_lucy [sMTP:irene.lucy] > Thursday, July 11, 2002 10:56 AM > vegan-network > [100% veg*n ] Re: Confessions of a teenage meat eater > > > I mostly agree with Brad about how I feel about animal eaters. > > And I just have to say this. > > What is wrong with vegans being as substitute family to one another > anyway? > > If we work on building strong bonds between vegans, then we don't > have to deal so much with biological family where we have little > common ground. > > Now who will be my kids' ungodparents and raise them vegan if hubby > and I die? Guest guest
" I accepted them as they were,non-vegans " so why do you and others find it so hard to accept other people as they are...much as you feel the rage against the killing you accepted your parents.......
