BAVRT is NOT a drop-in dinner event. If you have problems emailing

me, please use http://veginfo.com/contact/general

As always, you come under your own liability for all events. Pass

the word to your friends. This is not an exclusive net-folks only

event. This is not an activist group or singles event. Note that

if you plan to attend this dinner, you can order only vegetarian

dishes, even if the restaurant serves other stuff.

If you have suggestions for future sites, please e-mail them to

. If you want to volunteer host a BAVRT dinner,

please let me know!!

#1) Progress, one bite at a time

George Bernard Shaw said " The reasonable man adapts himself

to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to

adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends

on the unreasonable man. " So how does this apply to veg*anism?

For starters, whether you are an unreasonable man or woman, :-)

if you are working in a company, it probably has a cafeteria.

Drop an email to the manager in charge. No need to get

evangelical, confrontational, or emotional. Just a simple

request would do like a one liner " Can we have some vegan food

in the cafeteria? " If the manager responds " vegan? " explain

what it means. If they ask questions that you can't handle,

feel free to contact me and I will see what can be done.

You may be amazed at what can happen. Many times, the simplest

things work the best. Remember that if your company cafeteria

starts carrying vegan food, it will be consumed by non-vegans

also. If three non-vegans eat vegan food once a day, the effect

is equivalent to a full-time vegan eating three meals a day!

Let us start making progress one bite at a time.

#2) This month's trek

Phil, a major force in South Bay Vegetarian Society, is hosting

this month's BAVRT dinner. Zeni Ethiopian Restaurant is supposedly

a rather new restaurant, with cooked to order food. Our host says

" most of their veggie dishes are vegan -- and that due to holiday

fast requirements -- they cook in two (2) sets of dishes to keep

the vegan food separate from all the other foods. "

Dishes Available (Veggie=vy, vegan=vn): Entree price range $5-$8

sambussa(vn), yemisir wot(vn), kik alitcha(vn), atakilt wot(vn),

gomen wot(vn), shuro wot(vn), ye-timatim fitfit(vn),

foule(vy), vegetarian combo(vy/vn)

Phil, our host, goes on to say the owners " offered to have the

BAVRT dinner set-up with an Ethiopian cultural setting at

no additional expense in order to give people a sense of the

Ethiopian culture! "

What a treat for us :-) Make sure to RSVP soon.

#3) Last month's trek

http://www.veginfo.com/bavrt/restaurantlist.html

Ron & Michelle hosted last month's BAVRT dinner at the gourmet

all vegan Sparks restaurant in Guerneville. We had 15 people

who showed up and there were three cancellations. The restaurant

gave a special discount to the BAVRT group for a three course

dinner. Thanks to this BAVRT couple for a wonderful dinner

at an exotic location!
