Guest guest
depends on the beer in question... in the UK, may brewers, especially those who make cask conditioned ales, use isinglass, which is fish bladder, to refine and filter the beer(it isn't actually in the beer you drink, it drops out, but that isn't really the point).. the best bet, ask the brewer....they are usually more then happy to extol over wot is in their beer, how they made, which grains, etc try organic beers..... in the colonies over here across the pond, isinglass use is pretty dang rare..only a few microbreweries do it to be " authentic " ..most beers over here use DSE(diatamaceous earth style filters), or plate and frame filters... my advise..ask questions.... cheers fraggle Jonathan Saville <waville wrote: > >All >I'm sure this question has been asked before on many occaisions. But is the beer at beer festivals unfined and so vegan? I met a vegan once who said this is thje case and I'd so love to believe him. I doubt there'll anything for me to munch on but I would prefer not to be too anti-social amongst friends with anti-social habits. >Peace and love >Jonathan, Wales > > > > > >Get a bigger mailbox -- choose a size that fits your needs. > > >
Guest guest
>my advise..ask questions.... Ditto. It is not true that the beers are unrefined and hence vegan, but there will undoubtedly be vegan beers available depending on the brewer. Get a copy of the Vegan Shopper and look up which brewers/ales are suitable before you go (and take note of whether it is only bottle beers, or all containers). Guest guest
ummm actually..isinglass is in cask conditioned beers..beers in old casks er kegs, served at cellar temperature... beer in bottles (unless it sez cask conditioned, which tecnically it isn't but..) would more likely use a different filtration system,.. also, look fer beers with yeast in the bottle, er a good hefe weizen... yeasts in bottle, no filtration, no isinglass also, be aware that certain english brewers use lactose, tho, tis very rare... cheers fraggle Mavreela <nec.lists wrote: > >>my advise..ask questions.... > >Ditto. > >It is not true that the beers are unrefined and hence vegan, but there will >undoubtedly be vegan beers available depending on the brewer. Sorry I didn't make it clear. A lot of beers are suitable only in bottled form, hence you need to be sure that just because the bottled version is okay it doesn't mean a cask version would be.
