STUDY FINDS MORE VIRULENT BACTERIA IN U.S. POULTRY

Americans sickened by chicken contaminated with salmonella

and campylobacter may stay ill longer and pay more for treatment

due to virulent strains of the bacteria that resist common

antibiotics, Consumers Union said Tuesday.
