Guest guest
Casey! You will be so disappointed in me :{ I got such a bad reaction to the fake hair (I thought it was the stuff I was putting in my hair, but it ended up being the synthetic hair itself) that I couldn't stand it anymore and took them out. I have relatively sensitive skin and so should have forseen something like this... Anyway, the woman who did my hair didn't know how to do the four strand braids, so she did traditional three strand braids and just knotted the synthetic hair around a small piece of my natural hair which she parted in small box shapes as she went along. She did a really beautiful job and when I went to NY this past weekend, people were actually stopping me on the street! But alas, my scalp was falling to pieces. I'm really sad about having to take them out, but my scalp is thanking me and healing up nicely :-P As for your natural hair sticking up, mine did the same thing. I wove strands of button hole thread in a matching color around the braids themselves and that helped a lot. As for getting the braids to stay braided, you have several options: little black rubber bands that you can buy at any beauty supply shop, dipping the braids (not your natural hair, mind you -- just the extension part) in boiling water, or burning the ends with a lighter. I recommend using the water. It helps to smooth out the braids, too. Hope that helps and better luck with yours!!! --jojo - " casey thompson " <veganmunkee Tuesday, April 30, 2002 10:56 AM hair > my hair got braided yesterday... well started anyway...still have a bunch to > go lol.....so i'm walking around with like...a mohawk of butt length > braids...and the rest is my normal...above shoulder length hair...lol...and > i won't be able to finish it until tomorrow afternoon...lol....my plan > is...to finish making my dreaded hair pieces...throw my hair back in a phony > pony-tail....tie on the fake dreads...and cover the whole mess where hair > meets dreads and braids with a folded hanky... so it'll look semi-normal > at work tomorrow lol....good thing i only work at a pet store eh?? > > casey > > ps- to jojo...how did you get your hair to stay in the braids? i mean the > ends of MY hair are sticking out everywhere....very sloppy looking and we > can't figure out how to make em stay in.... but the blonde/brownish-red mix > i chose kicks ass!!! > > > _______________ > Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com > > > > To send an email to - > >

Guest guest
Try cutting the burned ends off and dipping them in boiling water instead -- it's the rough burnt ends that stick together and they collect little fiber balls from your clothes, too. --jojo - casey thompson Wednesday, May 01, 2002 4:01 AM Re: hair awww...well i'd rather you have your scalp then your braids any day of the week...lol.... oh yeah we burned my ends for that...rustic i'm so crazy look lol.... mine are 3 strand braids too..... now as for wearin em to work today...i'm just gonna throw up in a pony and wrap em around it.....my dreads are pissing me off...they look great but they keep sticking to one another..... so i can't wear em till i fix em..grrrrr casey>"jojo" <tofujojo> >>Re: hair>Tue, 30 Apr 2002 22:21:19 -0700>>Casey! Guest guest
OK, So a girlfirend of mine here in the UK has been having some problems which she suspects are diet related - after years of vegetarianism, and year of veganism has visibly thinned out her hair and aggravated a long-running scalp problem. Extra B/multivitamins haven't really shown any improvement either. Can anyone suggest anything that might help? On a lighter note, she did break her arm last year and it healed 3 weeks ahead of time, and I am CONVINCED that this was due to a high(non-dairy) calcium diet! Matt. Guest guest
I think there are a few nutritional deficiency possibilities: a) zinc b) vitamin A/D c) protein but I'm no expert... does she try to ensure she gets everything she needs in her diet? --- vegan-network wrote: > To to the Digest Mode [ recommended ], > send an email to: > vegan-network-digest > >
