Guest guest
The First Annual Philadelphia Vegan Congress With the discovery of Madcow in the US, and the rapid decline of our natural resources, there has never been a better time to take a step up in the fight against factory farms. The meat industry consumes half of the water humans consume and depletes our soil while it pollutes our air. In the process, millions of animals suffer from intense confinement, painful injuries, and a slow death. Any victory against factory farms is a victory for the human race as well. As consumption of meat declines, the food supply increases and the risk of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy(Mad Cow Disease) and Avian Flu(Bird Flu) decreases. Join Hugs for Puppies as we assemble some of the finest minds in the animal rights movement to analyze the social problem of factory farms. Activists from multiple issues, disciplines, and philosophies share their thoughts on how to deal with the growing unrest concerning our nation's food supply. 1906 S. Rittenhouse Square Philadelphia, PA May 8th from 9:30 AM - 7 pm The entire event will be free to the public, and The Kind Cafe will be selling refreshments on the premises. After the conference, we will be holding a demo/protest at the KFC on South St. www.kfccruelty.com hugsforpuppies www.phillyar.net SCHEDULE: 9:30 AM Opening Remarks 9:45 - Lydia Chaudry - Compassion for Animals, Respect for the Environment (CARE) 10:30 Dr. Michael Greger 11:30 Heidi Prescott - The Fund for Animals 12:30 - 1:45 L_U_N_C_H 1:45 - 2:15 Vegan Business - Featuring Camille Hankins of NYARA 2:20 - 3:00 Josh Harper 3:00 - 3:45 Managing Multiple Campaigns 3:45 - 4:20 B_R_E_A_K 4:25 - 5:05 Kevin Jonas - Using Controversy to Promote Veganism 5:10 - 5:55 Paul Shapiro - Winning the Fight Against Factory Farms 6:00 - 7:00 Howard Lyman
