Greetings folks from the Portland Peace and Justice Center!

To those of you who have not yet heard of us, we're a fairly new peace

organization here in Portland. Our mission is to promote social

justice through local economics and grassroots democracy. We intend to

become a physical space for community gatherings as well as a thinktank

for radical/progressive policy centered around non-violence and peace.

Our website is www.portlandpeace.org

This summer we have our first exciting project coming up, a set of bike

tours around Oregon. This is both a fundraiser for us, as well as well

within the goals and mission of the center in terms of inspiring activism

and action -- we are exposing our riders to alternative ways of thinking

and living, in hopes of them coming back to their communities to cause

progress and create change.

Our riders will be staying with native americans, on organic farms, at

permaculture and sustainable living research facilities. We aim to take

150 or so folks from all over the country, expose them to alternative ways

of thinking and living, and then see what impact they make when they come

back to their communities. In turn, the money raised will be used to

create a permanent peace and justice space here in Portland.

I'd appreciate it if you could forward this widely.
