Guest guest
There's a great new film called EARTHLINGS, which is narrated by Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix. EARTHLINGS is a groundbreaking film about mankind's complete commercial dependence on, yet total disrespect for, animals used as pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and for medical or scientific research. Using hidden cameras and never-before-seen footage, EARTHLINGS chronicles the day-to-day practices of some of the largest industries in the world, all of which rely entirely on animals for profit. Powerful, informative and thought-provoking, EARTHLINGS is by far the most comprehensive documentary film ever produced on the correlation between mankind, nature, animals, and human economic interests. EARTHLINGS is written, produced, directed and edited by Shaun Monson. The filmmaker's works include the documentary HOLY WAR, UNHOLY VICTORY, about the Russian invasion of Afghanistan and the rise of the Taliban, narrated by veteran actor and Academy Award winner George Kennedy [COOL HAND LUKE], and the Dogme 95 film BAD ACTORS which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001. Shaun is currently working on his next documentary feature about America's addiction to prescription drugs, entitled MEDICATE ME, with comedian/talk show host Bill Maher [REAL TIME, POLITICALLY INCORRECT]. EARTHLINGS is narrated by Joaquin Phoenix, who was nominated for an Academy Award in 2000 for GLADIATOR with music by Moby. The actor's other credits include: THE VILLAGE, BUFFALO SOLDIERS, SIGNS, THE YARDS, QUILLS, CLAY PIGEONS, RETURN TO PARADISE, U-TURN, INVENTING THE ABBOTTS, 8MM and TO DIE FOR. He can be seen this fall in LADDER 49 and is currently working on the Johnny Cash biopic I WALK THE LINE.
