Some of us have evidence all around us, including study reports, but are able to live in denial. This is true for those who eat animal products, as much as it is true for those who drive SUV's, consume like there's no tomorrow and otherwise trash their environment. I like this one better: " If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got " This is a quote by a local pastor/activist for alternative transportation and land-use that doesn't require humans to jump in a car to meet their basic needs. It just struck me that Mark Twain lived in a different time, and I immediately thought of the people I know and have met along the way who get into trouble because of what they don't know. Bush is emblematic of the dumbing down of America that contributes to these people who do get into trouble because of what they don't know. That's not to say anyone who gets into trouble did so because they didn't know something. The Mark Twain quote, in its entirety, does hold true.
