Hello Chrysta. :-). Do not worry, my dad is a type O negative blood

I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me how much of this is true.

Hi Day,

We have a NJ raw food support group meeting monthly. Send me an email if

you want to be on the NJ Raw Food announcement list. Also plenty of

events going on in New York City. I can get you on a list of events

there as well.

We also do potlucks and have an organic vegan restaurant in Red Bank

that serves a nice raw food menu.

Have you tried the Raw Diet many times but failed to stick with it? Now

you can learn the Motivational and Dietary Secrets to success on a 100%

Day,

Welcome aboard.

A good idea to read to get your diet balanced and make the transition.

It is a

big shift mentally and physically to go raw. For example, instead of

dealing with

a vast surplus of protein, your body will learn to extract protein from

dark green leaves.

Instead of taking carbohydrate from animal fats and wheat, it has to

take enough from

fruit and vegetable fats.

A good start is David Wolfe's Sunfood Success System. I skipped through

his philosophy but

I am sure others love it. Frederic Parernaude's Raw Secrets is

excellent too. There are masses

of books to read. Also not a bad idea to start off with some kind of

fast to clean the old

diet out.

[Raw Food] Hello all

I stumbled across this info after reading an article on why Demi

Moore 'looks so good at 40'- she is promoting the raw food diet.

Anyway, I was curious about it, did some research, and found that

the overall lifestyle appeals to me. That's how I ended up here. I

would like to learn more about changing my lifestyle and was curious

as to how you all went about making changes...I do have to say that

I love red meat, and that is one habit which I would like to break.

I know it's not the healthiest thing in the world...I am 22 yrs old,

living in NJ, and would simply like to feel much healthier than I do

now. (Perhaps it's the cloud of smog hanging over NJ that is

weighing me down, but I have a feeling it could be my diet as

well). Well, thanks for listening and I look forward to talking

with you all! Feel free to email cheetarra

Thanks!

angela, you can " warm " raw/living food up to 118 F without breaking down

the enzymes.

I have changed my settings to go to the sight and read as opposed to

rcving too many emails. So every couple of days I come by

and " visit " .

I have a question. A friend gave me a raw recipe book called " The

complete book of raw food " by Lori Baird, and Julie Rodwell.

Some of the soups say " serve warm " . Does anyone know what this is

all about?

This temperature keeps creeping up. First it was 110, then 112, then

115 and now 118!!!! Where will it end?

Of course I'm a purist - no raw food recipes required. I simply eat

as it comes no food prep at all. Lazy I am!

But that leaves me to experience the joy of all that raw stuff that

comes out of that dehydrator. I consider that my " junk " food!!!

Psychologically this works for me and keeps me raw!

I can totally see the psychology of that, and can see how it would

work for you. It makes sense. But for me..I have a new toy! I must

experiment~~!

Hi Mara - welcome to the group.

I think a lot of the bad press about soya comes from research sponsored by

milk producers. A far as I know there is no evidence that soya causes early

puberty, and is unlikely to interfere with thyroid hormone production unless

you already have a thyroid problem. I believe early puberty is more often

caused by the pcbs(? do I have the right item here) getting into the water

from plastic production.

I would suggest eating some soya in place of the most difficult dairy items

to replace. Is rice or nut milk available in India? If you are worried

about using soya you could use these. I use lentils, beans, nuts and seeds

and tofu for protein. These and plenty of vegetables and fruit give you all

the protein, minerals and vitamins you need, apart from Vitamin B12. It is

best to use some foods that are fortified with this or take a supplement

because a lack of it causes high homocysteine levels in the body which cause

heart problems.

It does sound difficult, especially if you can't cook some of your own food.

Good luck.

I've seen similar reports - although they appear to be " authentic " sources

(i.e. scientific researchers, doctors, etc.) when you actually look further

into them, you find that *all* of those reports are funded by the meat and

dairy industries, who obviosuly have a vested interest in proving that

alternatives to meat and dairy are bad for you.

In actual fact, there is no evidence at all that soy has any of the effects

they suggest, and is actually considerably less harmful than eating meat

products (which, as I understand it, have quite a hefty connection to cancer

since they release a significant number of free-radicals).

So, don't worry about these utterly irresponsible reports, and just make

sure you get a good balanced diet, and you'll be fine.

along the same lines....these studies also focus on either

a. huge amounts of soy,..if you eat anything everyday yer gonna run into some sort of problem eventually

b. also tends to stick with chemically stripped soy products...

thats not soy, thats plastic...

cheers

Theater is not an automatic A and I can't think of one class that should

be...

Not all kids should be taking theater.

I am the parent of 2 neither of them take or took theater. However they are

both involved on the Tech side of theater.

Good luck with your show.

I honestly haven't been keeping up with this group... so much has

changed in my life recently. But I felt a need to say hello (HELLO

ALL) and a few other words, too.

I do not have any vegan friends, not in person. The friends I do have

are ok, some pretty great about it all, but... idk.. it's like I am a

special needs person they have to prepare for or something... or their

ignorances are so obvious it is sickening and they just go on about

how I am wrong... yadda yadda...

So I was wondering if anyone knew a good way to meet some local

vegans? I am also newly single and would like to date again, but I

see no reason in starting up something with a non-vegan, someone I

won't have any kind of future with....

Or maybe this groups is really just full of spam....?
