St. Louis Vegan Food + Restaurants: What's Best?

I feel somewhat like an interloper, dear Gut Check readers, seeing as how I'm

usually found blogging over here. However, I feel even sneakier because I'm

stopping in to ask you about something normally verboten on this blog: vegan

food. Yes, food that doesn't involve bacon!

 

I have a friend visiting me from New York, land of non-meat restaurants and

delights, and I'm curious as to where in St. Louis one can procure delicious

vegan treats and meals. I've been to the Shangri-La Diner many times, know of

the options at the Schlafly Bottleworks and have heard rumors of an Indian

restaurant here and there (is Govinda's even open?), as well as a newish place

in a far-off land called Chesterfield. But in my mind, no restaurant menu can

compare to real-life customer recommendations. And so it's why I ask you: What

vegan food in St. Louis is actually good? Comment away.
