Guest guest
I am a traditionally trained chef, you know, taught to use all kinds of butter fat, eggs and milk. I always turned my nose at anything vegan. However, since my son is allergic to dairy and eggs I have since learned to cook many vegan items, including baked goods. Since my new found philosophy has intrigued me I decided to take a journey to a local vegan gourmet restaurant here in Chicago. A friend and I went to Karyn's raw restaurant on Halsted. I was amazed at how refreshing and delicious the food tasted. You could experience the freshness of the food in each bite and your tongue could detect all of the different flavors going on. I tried my first vegan sliders with an almond patty rather than the meat. They were delicious and all of the clean textures and flavors exploded in your mouth. If you want to try vegan food this is an excellent place to try. It even has a small `grocery' store to the side of the restaurant, serving up take home items. The one complaint is the expense, if you do want to try the food make sure to have plenty of money because these fresh ingredients come at a price. If interested you can visit Karyn's website at: www.karynraw.com.
