Guest guest
Near the crossroads of San Jose at Santa Clara Ave. and First St. is located a great vegan café called Good Karma. Whether you're in San Jose for a summer event, arena concert, attend SJSU or just live nearby, make sure you stop in for a treat. Among the dishes they serve are falafel, vegan steamed pork buns, wraps, curries, pasta, Chinese " chicken " salad, mashed potatoes, a variety of flavored tofu and seitan dishes, and much more. Their menu is always changing but they serve up to a dozen dishes each day. They have four beers on tap, but if you choose to sit outside make sure you get a juice, soda, or water. Good music, a relaxed atmosphere, and friendly employees round this place out to make it the perfect lunch or dinner stop in downtown. Prices are very good with a meal of two items and brown rice coming to just $6.50 plus tax. Every Thursday at 8pm they host acoustic performances and on the first Friday of every month is an art show reception. This examiner got the Thai yellow curry, spicy basil tofu, and rice. The coconut milk-based curry was delicious with its savory, sweet flavor and creamy goodness. The spicy basil tofu was perfectly spiced with a sauce one would probably lap up even after the tofu is gone. Good Karma Vegan Café 37 S.
