Guest guest Posted January 9, 2002 Report Share Posted January 9, 2002 Bread PuddingIngredients3 cups bread cubes4 cups scalded milk3/4 cup white sugar1 tablespoon butter1/2 teaspoon salt4 eggs, lightly beaten1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 cup white sugar1/2 cup butter1/2 cup heavy cream1 teaspoon vanilla extractDirectionsPreheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).Butter an 8x8-inch glass baking dish. Soak bread in hot milk for fiveminutes.Add 3/4 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon butter, salt, eggs and 1 teaspoonvanilla to bread mixture and stir well. Pour into the baking dish.Line a roasting pan with a damp kitchen towel. Place baking dish ontowel,inside roasting pan and place roasting pan on oven rack. Fillroasting pan with boiling water to reach halfway up the sides of thebaking dish. Bake 60 minutes. Cool on wire rack.While pudding cools: In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cupsugar, 1/2 cup butter, cream and 1 teaspoon vanilla.
