Guest guest Posted January 15, 2002 Report Share Posted January 15, 2002 Cashew Mushroom Gravy 2 c. Water 1/4 c. Cashews 2 Tbs. Arrowroot Powder 1/2 tsp. Salt 1 tsp. Onion Powder 1 tsp. Liquid Aminos (or Soy Sauce) 1/2 c. Green Onions (sliced) 1 Tbs. oil 1 c. Mushrooms (Shitaki, sliced) Soak the dried shitaki mushrooms in hot water until they are soft, then slice into pices. You may also use fresh sliced mushrooms. Saute the green onions and mushrooms in oil. Blend the rest of the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour the blended mixture into the fry pan of green onions and mushrooms. Stir until thick. Very good on top of rice or baked potatoes. Cashew Gravy (Especially for Pot Pie Recipe) 1 1/4 - 2 1/2 c. Water 1/2 - 3/4 c. Cashews 1 small Onion 1 Garlic Clove 1 tsp. Onion Powder 1 tsp. Garlic Powder 1/4 tsp. Cumin 1 tsp. Paprika 1 1/2 Tbs. Vegex or Sovex 1 tsp. Salt 1 tsp. Chicken Flavored Seasoning (McKays) Blend cashews and water for 5 minutes until smooth. Then blend the rest of the ingredients with the cashew mixture. Add to some vegetables for a yummy pot pie or as gravy on potatoes. Barbara's Country Style Gravy 2 c. Water 1/2 c. Cashews 1 Tbs. Onion Powder 1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder 1/2 tsp. Salt 1 Tbs. Brewer's Yeast (flakes) 1 Tbs. Arrowroot Powder Place 1 cup of the water and the cashews in a blender. Turn on the blender, and while it is running, add the seasonings and arrowroot. Blend until very smooth. Add remaining 1 cup of water and mix. Place into a small sauce pan and heat on the stove on medium-high, stirring frequently. NOTE: The flavor seems to be a bit better if you use rounded (not heaping) measures of each ingredient, except the water and cashews. Language is an expression of thought.
