Guest guest Posted February 15, 2002 Report Share Posted February 15, 2002 Chocolate Chip Cookies From Veggie Life, Winter 1999-2000 1/2 cup tahini 4 tablespoons margarine 1 1/2 cups maple syrup 1/4 cup safflower oil 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 3 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup rolled oats 1 teaspoon sea salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup vegan chocolate chips, preferably fruit-sweetened 1/2 cup chopped walnuts 1. Preheat oven to 350°. Lightly oil or line a baking sheet with parchment. 2. In a large bowl, cream tahini and margarine until smooth. Whisk in maple syrup, oil, and vanilla. Mixing with a wooden spoon, add flour, oats, salt, soda, chocolate chips, and walnuts. 3. Spoon or scoop rounded tablespoonfuls onto prepared sheet and flatten slightly into disks about 1/2 inch thick. Bake about 10 minutes, until edges begin to brown. Repeat with remaining dough. Makes about 5 dozen small cookies. PER COOKIE: 87 CAL (36% from fat), 2g PROT, 3g FAT, 13g CARB, 59mg SOD, Omg CHOL, 1g FIBER. Language is an expression of thought.
