Guest guest Posted February 19, 2002 Report Share Posted February 19, 2002 4 medium, firm red tomatoes 1 teaspoon Savory salt 1 egg salt and pepper to taste 1 cup bread or cracker crumbs 2 tablespoons mile pinch sugar Instructions: -Wash and dry tomatoes. -Remove thin slice from both stem and blossom ends. -Slice each crosswise into 3 thick pieces. -Dust with salt, pepper and sugar. -Roll in crumbs. -Beat egg with milk. -Dip crumbed slice into egg and milk mixture, then sprinkle with crumbs on both sides. ---Fry to a golden brown in deep fat, hot enough to brown a cube of bread in 1 minute (350 degrees). -Drain on unglazed paper or white paper towels. -Serve plain. -Also delicious served on rounds of toast with a white or cheese sauce. You can use green tomatoes to when they are in season. Language is an expression of thought.
