Guest guest Posted February 21, 2002 Report Share Posted February 21, 2002 Old Fashioned Tea Cakes Makes 6 dozen Ingredients 1 cup sugar 1 cup butter 2 large eggs, room temperature 1 tablespoon water 1 teaspoon vanilla Dash of salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 4 cups flour Cream the sugar and butter. Add the eggs, alternately, beating after each addition. Add the water and vanilla. Sift the dry ingredients together and mix into creamed mixture. Cover and chill 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out the chilled dough to a thickness of slightly less than 1/4 inch. Use a 2-inch biscuit cutter or a glass to make cookies.
