Guest guest Posted March 8, 2002 Report Share Posted March 8, 2002 OLD FASHIONED SOUTHERN SPOON BREAD: - 1 1/2 cup water - 1 tsp salt - 2 tbs butter - 1 cup cornmeal - 2 eggs separated - 1 cup milk Combine water ,salt & butter in a saucepan & bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add the cormeal & mix until smooth. Stir in the beaten egg yolks. Add the milk slowley, stirring constantly, then cool.Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold into cormeal mixture. Pour into a greased 1 quart baking dish.
