Guest guest Posted April 8, 2002 Report Share Posted April 8, 2002 Gamilla's African Stew (Vegetarian) :: Ingredients :: 1 Onion (white or yellow)chopped 1 bunch Swiss chard (chopped) 1 can garbanzo beans 1/2 cup rice (raw) 2 yams peeled and sliced fresh or canned whole tomatoes clove garlic pressed or chopped salt pepper chili powder to taste :: Instructions :: In a large pot, saute onion, garlic and stems of chard until slightly limp. Add the rest of the chopped chard should be added and briefly fried.Scrub the yams or peel, then cut into thick slices and add to the pot. Then add garbanzo beans, yams, tomatoes, salt and pepper. Cook for a couple of minutes. Use a spoon to make a well in the center of the vegetables, put the rice into this well/bowl. Pat the rice down until all of it is wet. Place lid on the pot and cook until rice is done (25 - 30 minutes). Add chili powder (or any other hot powder or sauce) to taste. ===== Language is an expression of thought.
