Relish - Topped Franks

 

3 large onions, finely chopped

1/2 cup tomato sauce

3 tbsp catsup

2 tbsp water

1 1/2 tsp sugar

1/2 tsp dred oregano, crushed**

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp garlic salt

1/4 tsp crushed red peper flakes

8 veggie hot dogs

8 hot dog buns

 

** I add 1/4 to 12 tsp basil, as well

 

In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients,

except the hot dogs and the buns.

 

ON the range top, bring to a boil. Then reduce the

heat. Simmer,covered, for about 20 minutes or until

the onions are tender.

 

Cook or grill the hot dogs. Serve the relish on the

hot dogs.

 

Store any leftover relsih in a tighly sealed glass jar

in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
