Gimme Lean Sausage Stuffing

Serves: 4 servings

Ingredients:

1 package Gimme Lean!TM Sausage

2 tablespoons butter or margarine

1/4 cup onion, minced

1/4 cup celery, finely chopped

1 cup water

1 boullion cube

3 cups plain breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon poultry seasoning

1/8 teaspoon pepper

1 cup applesauce or 2 large apples, thinly sliced

 

 

 

Instructions:

1. Melt butter or margarine on low heat and add

onions and celery. Cook until soft.

2. Crumble Gimme Lean!TM Sausage into the pan to

brown; chopping into fine pieces with spatula as it

cooks.

3. When it is brown add water, boullion, bread

crumbs and seasoning.

4. Remove from heat and mix well, adding the

applesauce. (If using sliced apples add water,

bouillon and apples. Let sit until apples are soft

before adding the breadcrumbs and seasoning.)

5. Lightly oil loaf pan and add sausage stuffing.

Bake in 400°F oven for 25 minutes

Variation: Stuffed Acorn Squash. Halve 2 Acorn

squashes, removing seeds and membranes. Fill with

stuffing mixture. In a 13 x 9 x 3 pan put 1/2 inch of

water and the stuffed squash. Cover tightly with

aluminum foil and bake at 400°F for 45 to 55 minutes.
