Hi all,

This site is wonderful. I have always wanted to try and eliminate

meat from my diet. I am a diehard meat and potates kind of girl so I

know this won't be easy but I am willing to try. This site offer a

host of alterntaives and wonderfully, filling dishes to experiment

with.

I have one question for now to start me off. What staples should

every well stocked vegetarian kitchen not be without?

Hi Stephanie,

First of all, welcome to the group....

I hope that you'll find the recipes here tasty as well as

helpful in in your vegetarian diet.

As far as having a well stocked pantry, here's where I'd

like input from our members here: what do you suggest that

Stephanie ALWAYS keep stocked in her kitchen as a vegetarian?

Suggestions, anyone????

a well stocked vegetarian kitchen should always have...

onions

potatoes

lentils

beans

pasta

flour (for breadmaking)

cornstarch, arrowroot, or some type of thickener for sauces and

gravies

tofu

cashews or almonds for mock cheeses

pecan mill (for meatloaves or such dishes)

dried fruit (for snacks and breads)

nutritional yeast flakes

oats

fruits (for breakfast and smoothies) *To help cleanse the body, eat

fruit first thing in the morning on an empty stomach*

meat alternatives (if you even like them) such as gimme lean or

Morning starm farms products

soy milk

Well I hope this helps
