Scripture Cake 1

1 cup of figs (I Samuel 30:12)

1 cup of raisins (I Samuel 30:12)

1/2 cup of almonds (Genesis 43:11)

2 cups of sifted flour, reserving some for dusting

fruit (I Kings 4:22)

3 egg whites, stiffly beaten (Isaiah 10:14)

1/2 cup of butter (Judges 5:25)

1 1/2 cups of sugar (Jeremiah 6:20)

1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon of mace

1/2 teaspoon of cloves (I Kings 10:10)

1/2 teaspoon of salt (Leviticus 2:13)

3 egg yolks, beaten (Isaiah 10:14)

2 teaspoons of baking powder (Luke 13:21)

1/2 cup of water (Genesis 24:11)

1 tablespoon of honey (Proverbs 24:13)

Grease and flour a 9 1/2-inch tube pan.

Put the fruit and nuts through a food chopper or chop

fine; flour well with flour from the recipe.

Beat the egg whites until stiff, not dry; set aside.

In another bowl, blend together the butter, sugar,

spices, and salt.

Beat egg yolks and add to the mixture.

Sift in the baking powder and remaining flour; add

water and honey.

Stir in the floured fruits and nuts.

Follow Solomon's advice for making good boys:

" Thou shalt beat him with a rod " (Proverbs 23:14).

Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.

Pour the batter into prepared pan.

Bake 50 to 60 minutes at 375 degrees.
