Guest guest Posted July 2, 2002 Report Share Posted July 2, 2002 Scripture Cake 1 1 cup of figs (I Samuel 30:12) 1 cup of raisins (I Samuel 30:12) 1/2 cup of almonds (Genesis 43:11) 2 cups of sifted flour, reserving some for dusting fruit (I Kings 4:22) 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten (Isaiah 10:14) 1/2 cup of butter (Judges 5:25) 1 1/2 cups of sugar (Jeremiah 6:20) 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon of mace 1/2 teaspoon of cloves (I Kings 10:10) 1/2 teaspoon of salt (Leviticus 2:13) 3 egg yolks, beaten (Isaiah 10:14) 2 teaspoons of baking powder (Luke 13:21) 1/2 cup of water (Genesis 24:11) 1 tablespoon of honey (Proverbs 24:13) Grease and flour a 9 1/2-inch tube pan. Put the fruit and nuts through a food chopper or chop fine; flour well with flour from the recipe. Beat the egg whites until stiff, not dry; set aside. In another bowl, blend together the butter, sugar, spices, and salt. Beat egg yolks and add to the mixture. Sift in the baking powder and remaining flour; add water and honey. Stir in the floured fruits and nuts. Follow Solomon's advice for making good boys: " Thou shalt beat him with a rod " (Proverbs 23:14). Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
