Guest guest Posted July 29, 2002 Report Share Posted July 29, 2002 Pear Sauce Ingredients 1 - vanilla bean, optional 8 - large pears, peeled, cored and quartered 2/3 cup (5 1/2 fl oz/165 ml) water 1 tablespoon natural cane sugar 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg Preparation - Estimated cooking time: 30-60 minutes - 1 If using vanilla bean, split it lengthwise and scrape seeds into a large saucepan. Add bean to the pan as well. 2 Add pears, water, sugar, vanilla extract and nutmeg to the pan. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer. Cover the pan and cook until pears are soft, about 20 minutes. 3 Remove vanilla bean. Puree sauce in a food processor or, for a chunkier sauce, mash it with a potato masher.
