Guest guest Posted October 28, 2002 Report Share Posted October 28, 2002 Spice Sticks Ingredients 1 large egg yolk 1 teaspoon water 1 17.3-ounce package prepared frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed according to package directions 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, crushed 1 teaspoon salt Directions: 1. Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Beat yolk with water. Roll 1 pastry sheet into a 12x16-inch rectangle on a lightly floured board. Brush with yolk mixture. Sprinkle with half the sesame seeds, cumin, and salt. Roll top lightly with rolling pin; let stand 5 minutes. 2. Turn pastry over, seed-side down, and brush top with yolk mixture. Fold in half crosswise. Roll into a 10x16-inch rectangle. Cut along the 10-inch side into 3/4-inch-wide strips. Twist strips; arrange 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes, until golden. Repeat. Makes 2 dozen. Cheese Sticks Substitute 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese for the sesame seeds and omit the salt.
