While research on the true benefits of fiber continues, we do know the

rewards of a fiber rich diet include protection against diabetes, defense

against diverticulitis, management of blood cholesterol levels, and

maintenance of a healthy weight. The American Dietetic Association

recommends at least 25 grams of dietary fiber per day, which is easy to get

from whole foods such as brown rice, legumes, nuts, seeds, vegetables, and

fruits.
