Greetings for the Seven Days of Kwanzaa

 

For the seven days of Kwanzaa we greet each other in

Swahili. " Habari gani " which means " What's happening? "

is the greeting and the response is the principle of

the day.

 

December 26

Greeting: " Habari gani! "

Response: " Umoja! "

 

December 27

Greeting: " Habari gani! "

Response: " Kujichagulia! "

 

December 28

Greeting: " Habari gani! "

Response: " Ukima! "

 

December 29th

Greeting; " Habari gani! "

Response: " Ujamaa! "

 

December 30th

Greeting: " Habari gani! "

Response: " Nia! "

 

December 31

Greeting: " Habari gani! "

Response: " Kuumba! "

 

January1

Greeting: " Habari gani! "

Response: " Imani! "

 

Another Greeting is " Kwanzaa yenu iwe na heri " or

simply " Happy Kwanzaa. "
