Guest guest
Holiday parties may pose a threat to staying on track! Here are a few tips from the American Dietetic Association to get you through and allow you to have fun! Don't go to a party hungry--hunger leads to overeating. Drink some juice, eat a piece of fruit, or some crackers before leaving. Don't stand around the food table--take the foods you want and leave the area. Watch alcohol intake--alcohol drops your resistance and can result in overeating. Bring a low-cal item, if the party calls for it--that way you know you can load up on it. Engage people in conversation--it's hard to talk and eat at the same time--talking slows your eating and helps you recognize when you're full. Don't skip once a year favorites--skipping them can lead to frustration and deprivation, instead enjoy smaller portions. And remember, the holidays only come once a year, focus on having a good time, not just the food. ===== Language is an expression of thought.
