Guest guest
Baked goods can be a part of your holiday routine, especially when you take some steps to reduce the fat, according to the American Dietetic Association. Fat is important to the texture, flavor and moisture of baked goods, but pureed fruits and nonfat yogurt can duplicate these characteristics with less fat. Adding pureed fruits or nonfat yogurt also increases the nutrition of your treats - a nice holiday present. Make recipe changes gradually, substitute one half as much pureed fruit or yogurt for fat. If the taste and texture are good, try substituting a little more the next time. You can also reduce fat by using egg substitutes for whole eggs - it saves five grams of fat and forty five calories for each egg. Replace eggs gradually so that you maintain quality while improving fat and calories. And above all - remember portions when you start sampling holiday treats - reducing fat doesn't mean you can eat twice as much. ===== Language is an expression of thought.
