Guest guest
Memorable Mother's Day No matter whether your mom lives near or far, you can still send lots of love her way and provide a full day of pampering in the form of her favorite homemade treats. Get brilliant ideas for breakfast in bed, and beyond! You don't have to be a whiz in the kitchen to make a whole day of memorable meals and gourmet gifts for Mom. *** Love from the Kitchen From the day you were born, your mother has been putting great effort and love into feeding and nourishing you. Show your appreciation on Mother's Day by taking a turn at feeding her! * Breakfast in Bed. It doesn't have to be elaborate in order to be wonderful and much-appreciated by Mom. Simplicity can be elegant and beautiful. A bowl of ripe fruit garnished with mint leaves; a fresh pastry or muffin made by you or even bought from a bakery; a pot of tea or coffee; and a single flower in a bud vase or tied with a ribbon. Serve on the nicest dishes in the house with a linen napkin. If your mother would rather eat at the table, turn breakfast into a family affair. Set her up in her favorite armchair with a cup of her favorite hot beverage and her favorite magazine, and call her to the table when breakfast is ready. * Breakfast Out of Bed. Instead of breakfast in bed, how about a Mother's Day picnic? Choose a nearby park, beach, mountain, or lake, or even your own back yard. Pack a basket with a linen tablecloth (make sure it's okay to take it outside, though!), festive paper plates, and the makings of a casual feast. Try an assortment of salads -- pasta, bean, fruit, or a loaf of fresh bread along with a selection of cheeses and entrees. For dessert, Mom will love brownies, cookies, quick bread or strawberry shortcake. Whatever you choose to make, do as much advance preparation as possible. Muffins, coffeecakes, rolls, or pastries can be baked the night before and heated up in the oven when ready to serve. Fruit can be washed and sliced the night before. Most salads are best when dressed at the last minute, but most of the ingredients can be chopped ahead of time. * Delicious Gifts. Get her a new cookbook -- a particular title she's been wanting, or a book that explores a particular cuisine that she likes -- and make the day's meals out of it. Go a step further and present her with coupons good for more home-cooked meals -- prepared by you. If your mom lives far away, you can still return the favor for all of the homemade love she's given you. Make her a care package with her favorite cookies or hand-dipped chocolates, or a meal kit with the makings of a decadent feast. You could include gourmet pasta with a jar of sauce, some homemade herb-infused olive oil, a bottle of balsamic vinegar, favorite entree, and for dessert, home-baked biscotti and some good espresso beans. ===== *********** My Special Thought To You: There's A Blessin' In Pressin'....On The Upward Way!
